My dear friends bought me a ‘Closing the bones’ ceremony with lovely Daia, as I’ve had a really tough transition period in my life, on top of being a new mum. It was honestly the best gift I have ever received. Daia is such a wonderful woman, she took time to listen so intently to my experiences ahead of the ceremony. The ceremony itself was incredible. I’m not sure I will ever be able to find sufficient words to do it, or Daia justice. But I felt as though Daia found all the pieces of me and both physically and spiritually pulled them together again. She drew light to places I didn’t even know needed healing, as well as helping me start the incredibly hard journey of piecing myself together following my experiences over the past year.
The closing the bones ceremony was so profound, so nurturing, and so healing, and that is all down to Daia.
I cannot recommend her enough. I’ve since had massages with her where I’ve felt equally held and looked after. Daia is truly a remarkable soul!

I had a difficult pregnancy suffering from perinatal depression. In the build up to birth Daia was much more than a doula - she became a friend and confidante. She was someone sensible, kind, wise and reassuring to talk to. Whenever I had a wobble she would be there for me, and recommended powerful herbal and aromatherapy remedies to support me - infinitely preferable to the antidepressants offered by my GP. I was worried about this birth due to the issues I had in pregnancy - I was sure there would be complications.

When the contractions started we rang Daia and she came straight away. As soon as she arrived the atmosphere lifted in our house, from fear and trepidation to something (honestly) more like a party. Daia went above and beyond. We chatted and enjoyed the tea and snacks she had bought, pausing every now and again when a contraction came. We even went for an early morning walk, enjoying nature in a relaxed way. When the contractions ramped up we were all set to get into the car to go to hospital. Again Daia's calm, cheerful presence prevented any panic around what to take - we quickly loaded up and then... the contractions were suddenly very big and intense. Daia offered massages which were very effective in relieving the intensity. She told me to breathe. Despite no doctors, we weren't frightened. Daia was there. She was so calm and reassuring. Two huge contractions later and our little girl was born in our living room. I couldn't believe it. I'd given birth at home, without any fuss, complications or pain relief.

I'd always been a straight-down-the-line 'take me to hospital and bring on the drugs' type of girl, but I wouldn't change the experience I had for anything. I came out of the birth stronger as a person and full of respect and amazement for the human body.

In the weeks after the birth Daia was on hand. Daia's relaxed and natural approach was invaluable and our little girl had the best possible start in life.

In a time where women, in our society, are often without mothers, sisters, aunties and friends in their postnatal period, Daia is invaluable. She is literally a gift to all new mothers, and I attribute my emotions and hormonal wellbeing to the support we received in the immediate days and weeks following birth. I was able to fully immerse myself in my new baby. Treasuring every little move, noise and expression without worrying about cleaning up after breakfast or preparing dinner.

I knew from the moment I read Daia’s profile that she was the woman that I wanted to support us through our pregnancy and birth journey. Her skills and values were all that I had hoped for in my search for a Doula. Her warm nature and wisdom were evident in our first meeting, and I immediately felt emotionally safe.
After connecting with our thoughts and story as to how we had come to arrive at this point, Daia showed me how to visualise what I wanted and lead me there by guiding me through the necessary work.

She worked with my husband and I, supporting us as a team in the lead up to, and during birth, making me feel seen and heard, holding space for me at all time. During birth, she was my voice when I needed her to be, she gently offered choices when my mind was elsewhere, she eased my discomfort with rebozo, and I’ll always feel my hand in her in those moments where my husband received our son.

Through Daia’s support we were able to align our dreams connecting them with reality; we experienced a truly life changing, transcending event, and I will be forever grateful to her. Daia is a gift.

In those sacred hours after birth, Daia made sure I was nourished, the atmosphere was calm, and that I had all that my body needed. She supported me with feeding and seemed to instinctively know how to hold space for me and our family.

Daia is everything you want in a doula, kind, thoughtful and proactive. She is able to bring her expertise in naturology therapies to aid mothers prenatally, during labour and postnatally. I had my baby during lockdown and I don’t think I could have done it without Daia. I had a home birth and baby arrived before midwives so I had limited pain relief - Daia really helped me through my labour using natural techniques to make the contractions more manageable.

She was so useful from helping me move about to making everyone drinks and breakfast. She’s able to see things that need doing and do it and has a common sense approach that is sometimes even lacking in health care professionals!

For my postnatal sessions, Daia cooked amazing nourishing meals, babysat, and pampered me in those early and exhausting weeks. I also received a closing of the bones ceremony from her which allowed me to mark my becoming a mother in a special and significant way.

I cannot recommend Daia enough; investing in having her as a doula is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Daia made a made a huge difference to me in my ability to support my partner throughout the birth. During the birth of our previous child I had at times felt like an observer, helplessly watching my wife struggling. Daia gave me physical tools to support her throughout the birth. She intuitively knew exactly when to step forward and guide me as a birth partner to my wife and when I did not need help. She could see when I was tiring and needed her to take over with the Rebozo or when she was more useful fetching water and food or making the midwives comfortable. She was also a warm and positive presence at all times and made an immense contribution to the amazing and joyous experience of welcoming our baby into the world.

Daia was the perfect doula for us and made a huge difference to our overall experience – she’s calm and respectful, knowledgeable as well as intuitive, open and understanding of our wishes and needs and supportive in any way for me and our whole family – practically as well as emotionally, always have a listening ear and practical advice or suggestions ready if welcomed. She was available over the phone any time I needed her also during the period after the birth, again always with advice and support.

During the pregnancy, Daia worked with me to prepare for the birth physically, mentally and spiritually. The prospect of labour had always been distressing for me; with Daia’s reassurance and support, I was able to face the birth of my son confidently and finally see it for the incredibly special day it was to be. With her encouragement and knowledge, I was also able to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle throughout the pregnancy which was hugely important to me. Daia is also highly skilled; in one of our antenatal sessions, she removed my pregnancy-related lower back pain which was starting to affect my daily life. She also helped myself and my partner put together a birth plan all the while understanding and respecting our wishes – with so much information out there, it was a massive comfort for us to have her guidance and insight. Daia made my pregnancy feel even more special. I felt genuinely cared for and she was wholly and personally invested in the entire process.

It's hard for me to put into words how valuable Daiany’s presence and support was during the birth. She kept me calm and strong; she was like a guardian. She also advocated for me and absolutely grafted for the whole 26 hours. I would not have any subsequent births without her.
